  • R: ohayou gozaimasu
  • K: お早うございます

Good Afternoon

  • R: konnichiwa
  • K: 今日は
  • H: こんにちは

Good Evening

  • R: konbanwa
  • K: 今晩は
  • H: こんばんは

Good night (Before going to bed)

  • R: oyasumi nasai
  • K: お休みなさい
  • H: おやすみなさい
  • * Oyasumi for short casual version.

HOW TO SAY GOODBYE IN JAPANESE

Goodbye (Farewell, So Long)

  • R: sayounara
  • H: さようなら
  • * Used only when you will not see the person for a while.

See You Later (semi casual)

  • R: matane
  • H: またね

See you, Bye (casual, friends, family)

  • R: ja ne
  • H: じゃあね

  • H: ばいばい

Bye (polite, business situation)

  • R: shitsurei shimasu

Thank you (casual)

Thank you or your welcome (very casual)

  • R: domo
  • H: どうも or どーも

Thank you (VERY) much (formal) 

  • R: (domo), arigatou gozaimasu
  • K: (どうも) 有り難うございます
  • H: (どうも) ありがとうございます
  • *domo can also be used to add emphasis to a phrase, meaning VERY.

  • R: kochira koso, arigatou gozaimasu
  • K: こちらこそ有り難うございます
  • H: こちらこそありがとうございます

Your Welcome (formal) 

  • R: dou itashi mashite
  • K: どう致しまして
  • H: どういたしまして

HOW TO INTRODUCE YOURSELF IN JAPANESE

Nice to meet you (used in most cases)

  • R: hajimemashite
  • K: 初めまして
  • H: はじめまして

Nice to meet you (when providing a service or favor, casual)

  • R: yoroshiku
